I can only speak to the highest regard for Barry Neame and his team. Their time management skills were fantastic and he coordinated the entire National Conference and Trade Exhibition without much input from my Scientific Committee and me. He essentially was responsible for the entire budget and fiscal management service with assistance both in securing sponsorship and attending to the sponsor requirements. All conference registration, which included the main conference and four large satellite meetings were all done through Consec and his financial records were impeccable.
Barry was certainly the most approachable conference organizer I have ever had the pleasure of working with and our geographical distance between Sydney and Canberra had no impact on the ease with which the conference was organized.
Subsequent to our success with Barry, we have also utilised him for our annual Australasian Rhinologic Society meetings, which are held each year and again, he was found by our entire executive committee to be fantastic. We also employed his services for a third time in the running of the Australasian Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology meeting in Fiji.
I have worked with Consec for an international IEEE conference that was supposed to run at the Convention Centre in a conventional face-2-face mode. COVID-19 has changed that. Within weeks, we needed to make tough decisions, respond fast to a new and unanticipated situation, adapt the budget and plan for a virtual platform to deliver the event. Consec's management and staff worked tirelessly to adapt to the situation. They executed the virtual event perfectly and created an environment that combines both pre-recorded and live presentations. The staff were managing moments with very high demand in a very professional and friendly manner. For the past 12 years, Consec has provided a faultless management service, both in the preparation for the event as well as its conduct over three days. Their general management and financial management are both excellent, playing a very proactive part in rolling over exhibitors and sponsors between years, identifying new sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, as well as in the advertising for registrations in new markets. Their communications plan is extensive and is a significant contributor to the success of the conference.
Although the conference runs for three days, Consec manages some seven days of operation, from the build of the exhibition the exhibitors bumping out at the end. Their venue and logistics management is excellent, providing perfectly balanced interfaces among all parties, ensuring that all conference activities are coordinated and flow smoothly. There has never been, in any of the last 12 events, any issue related to printing, marketing, venue, catering, audio visual or exhibition build.
As well as managing venue and logistics, Consec staff provide excellent service throughout the conference, whether it is in a smooth registration service, coordination of conference services, or responding to any requests. They are friendly, efficient and effective—representing the conference perfectly.
